Chinese medicine is an ancient and comprehensive system of holistic modalities that have been used for millennia to help treat an array of ailments. Within the realm of Chinese medicine is acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, tui-na (chinese bodywork), nutrition, meditation, movement therapy, and herbal medicine. It is based upon the belief that disease and dysfunction originate from an imbalance in yin and yang, which can create excess or deficient qi and blood within the meridians (energy channels). Qi is known as the life-force energy that flows through the body, and if obstructed, it can manifest as many different signs and symptoms. Therefore, the goal of Chinese medicine is to promote health and wellbeing through creating balance from within as well as living in balance with our surroundings.
